Steve Reviews: The Land Before Time

As requested by a couple of commentators I thought it was about time that I did a more updated and detailed review of The Land Before Time. Hope you guys enjoy the video, this was by FAR the toughest video to get past copyright strikes to date, with a grand total of 10 uploads! So apologies that the video has to be displayed in this reduced window, and apologies some shots have to be cut and replaces with stills. But hey, that's fair use for ya!

I beg to differ, Mufasa's death was way more emotional because the lion king is a better movie

i saw land before time and im not damage psychologically. My mom always tell me that isn't happening for real thats why i know how to differentiate reality from fiction. It's important telling kids nothing in the tv can hurt you.

simba laid with his dead father while his uncle told him it was his fault. being banished and chased by hyenas trying to kill him he then almost dies in the desert before being found and helped by t&p. that is far from immediately after his father dying. simba has the edge.

God, every time I hear even the first three notes of the music that plays over Little Foot's mother's death, I start tearing up. Its so impactful and shows how masterful the storytellers were, to get you to feel so sad for a creature that's been extinct from the world for millions of years.

I think if you look closely before the sharptooth hits the water a chunk of rock hits it in the stomach which probably made it loosen its grip on petrey.

The reason the camera zoomed in on the treestar after it was crushed by sharptooth was because it was the last "gift" that littlefoots mother gave to him and as such it was the only physical item he had left to remember her by and at one point in the film ducky even tells petrie that it was very special, his mother gave it to him. They zoom in to show it after being crushed to symbolize the last physical link littlefoot had to his mother being destroyed. At least that why i think they did that anyway.

This might be a slight hot take to some, but I genuinely consider Sharptooth an S-tier villain. He has no dialog, barely any personality, yet is one of the most memorable parts of the movie to many, because he is just that threatening! He is a perfect example of how to do a bestial villain well, and I highly doubt anyone wasn't at least a little scared of him when they watched the movie as kids. I wish we'd get a villain as scary as him nowadays honestly...

To your questions about Petrie learning to fly and how he survived it's actually logical. As to how he suddenly learned to fly, you would be surprised at what you can learn to do real quick when you are fighting for your life. Being a flyer anyway it was in his instincts to do it, he just needed to adrenaline rush to bring it out of him. How did he Petrie survive the fall? If you pause it at just the right spot, you can see when the boulder lands on the T Rex it causes his mouth to open, thus freeing Petrie from his grip. So even though Petrie got splashed by a big wave, he didn't go down with Sharptooth and the boulder.

I was three years old when this came out, and I actually saw it in the theater. I remember balling when Littlefoot's mom was killed and grabbing onto my mom and not wanting to let her go because I was afraid she would die. This movie death affected me more than any death in any other movie I have ever seen. It still makes me tear up a bit when I watch the movie today. Such a massive gut punch.

Those dome heads were very likely going to kill Cera. After all, there's no such thing as a true herbivore, especially when they're starving. Goats and deer will eat anything smaller than them from baby squirrels and birds to chicks. And Manatees who largely feed on seaweed will often times not notice seahorses hiding among the seaweed and end up eating them. Nature is fucking terrifying.

Though the scene where Littlefoot's mom dies is sad, it's actually the part afterwards where he mistakes his shadow for her that gets me every time. It's that look on his face when he realizes that it's not her, and that she's really gone and not coming back. It's soul crushing.

So... Disney's Dinosaur kind of stole the plot of this movie, but like especially the original ending right? Like how the group of dinosaurs were all trying to find the last green valley, our hero (and a couple friends) go the correct way and find the valley, but then later have to go back and save the rest of the group because they went the wrong way and were also being pursued by a "sharptooth" (carnosaur) the entire time? Hm

Hot air rises, & would push Petre (I think that's how it's spelled) up. From there I like to think that he panicked, & instinct took over, kinda like how if you put a baby in water (Holding it's head above the water, ofcourse) it'll naturally move like it was swimming. That's how I argue Petre flying making sense.
