I just burst out laughing at 5:46 as that is the EXACT reaction I had to that scene and character.

I didnt think the anime was to bad but it did stray away from a lot of what made the show and the realness of the natural disasters, i think the anime Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 displays what this show was trying to do and i felt more for the characters in that one a lot more

Spoiler: Alot of people think that Kite survived at the end and showed up in the crowd. Well I don't think that's Kite and I had a huge argument as to if Kite was alive or not. Especially since we see that the guy who was paralyzed was pretending to be Kite. So.. yea I don't think he was alive at the end.

I couldn’t keep watching after the first episode, the pacing was too weird. (Spoilers!) The family meets up at the ruins at their home and....decides to take a group photo? Where they’re smiling? I know it’s because they’re happy to have found one another but they’ve just seen dead, dying, and stranded people all around them...

Ooo I just thought of a dark/deep series that parades as a cute show: From the New World/Shinsekai Yori. I was shook by the twist ending. Might be a fun one to review~

To be honest to say the animation is ugly is an understament. I like the color palet, but, for example, take that lasts cene with KITE...he looked like he was morphing into some mole-human Hybrid. That Naruto´s Battle against Pain levels of terrible.

Spoilers The dad's death kind Of through me off for a bit. I was so confused. I thought it skipped an episode. You are given no time to process. Just boom and roll credits. The next episode starts with the remainder of the group traveling. I had two main thoughts right before the boom. 1 why the hell is he still digging. 2 there has to be a reason it says not to dig here. Explosives are a thing. I was actually hopeful he might have survived it via anime plot armor but once you get that nice cut of his severed hand, it sinks in. And that's when I knew what I was in for. I found the the utopia ark weird and misplaced. The show was accomplishing realism pretty well up until that point. I was so ready for it to be a cult that I immediately hated "mother". When it wasn't I had very confused emotions. Also I everyone casually eating what is essentially weed soup tripped me out. I actually liked the the rap scene. It's like a rap battle between family. It's really cringey but you can't help but smile. Lol. Let them have their fun. Also 5:52 Me as soon as Daniel was introduced.

What bothered me (aside from plot elements) was how the animation went from interesting and eye catching to no shading and character barely moving. Not to mention the REALLY off model shots. I couldn’t hardly take it seriously with how ridiculous it looked at times. It was like they spent most of their animation budget on the first two episodes.

I watched this series on Netflix. And in my personal opinion, it is by far one of the best I've seen of anime. And I'm very picky of the genre. Keeps you on edge in nearly every episode. Shock value is high and wholesomeness is overwhelming, despite the grim unknown around every corner. An emotional rollercoaster at best but worth every second of it. 10/10 recommend.
