    13:10 (Laughs in Southern Louisiana bayou) Pheasant Gumbo Weve used this recipe for a few years after finding it online. INGREDIENTS 5 tbsp butter or vegetable oil (for roux) 5 tbsp all purpose flour (for roux) ¼ cup corn oil 1/2 pound andouille sausage, sliced into ¼ inch thick circles ¼ pound smoked cajun sausage 3/4 cup coarsely diced onion 1/2 cup coarsely diced bell pepper 1/4 cup finely diced celery 2 large Pheasant breasts (Easy way). For a deeper flavour you can use 1 whole 2 -3 lb pheasant. Roast it with some seasoning at 350 F for 35 minutes (until juices run clear) and then pull meat from bones (discard skin and bones) 2 tbsp paprika 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 2 small bay leaf 2 1/2 quarts concentrated chicken stock 2 tsp Kitchen Bouquet or Worcestershire sauce 4 dashes Tabasco or Louisiana hot sauce 3 tbsp sliced green onion tops COOKING THE GUMBO 1. Make the Roux A Roux pronounced roo is simply a browned in a mixture of flour and oil. It is used to thicken stews and of course is the base for gumbo recipes. where a rich, deep, hearty flavor, and texture is desired. In a cast iron skillet or heavy-bottom saucepan, heat butter or oil over a medium heat. Whisk in the flour, a little at a time and cook, whisking constantly, until roux becomes smooth and thick. Reduce the heat to low and Continue cooking , remembering to constantly stir with a spoon. the roux will darken to a rich brown color. This process can take some time, generally it takes me from 30 to 45 minutes. It will depending on your stove. Don’t rush this the slower the roux is cooked the better. 2. Making The Gumbo Heat corn oil to hot and maintain heat in a cast-iron or other heavy pot over medium-low heat. Meanwhile, in a nonstick skillet, brown andouille sausage, then add to oil in the cast-iron pot. Repeat process with Cajun sausage, onion, bell pepper and celery and pheasant, Each ingredient should be cooked individually on the skillet then added to the heavy pot. 3. Add The Spice. Add the paprika, black pepper, white pepper, cayenne and bay leaf to the pot and stir. 4. Add The Liquid Mix in stock. 5 Thicken It Up Slowly stir in the Roux until blended. Then slowly Bring to a boil and cook around 40 minutes, remembering to stir regularly. 6. Add More Spice Add Kitchen Bouquet, or Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco or Louisiana hot sauce and green onions and stir well. 7. Shred The Meat If you have used pheasant breasts or pieces with bones, take them out and shred the meat, return to the pot and simmer for 5 - 10 minutes and serve. Serve with rice.

    So a snake, a weasel, and a fox are traveling with a buffet on the go? Sounds like a fun family time! Born in the 80's, I've learn to beware soft watercolor backgrounds in cartoons, I just knew someone was destined to die a bloody unfair death.....WTH were animators smoking in the 60's & 70's? All the cartoons are like the leftovers of a bad acid trip, no wonder youth in the 80's & 90's put graffiti on every surface they could find.....lol, they were recreating the trauma those kids movies burned into our souls! Who's idea was it to kill Bambi's mom in the first scenes? Never mind what happened to dumbo....jeez, society really did a number on us😂

    In the 90ies censors thought kids could handle dark stuff. Batman TAS had deaths too, even if some were off-screen, other times we saw the bodies. Also, not sure if you ever seen Roswell Conspiracies? Worth watching and it has some horrific stuff from brain slugs that turn people into vegetables a yeti genocide and horrific transformations. It's a very good show too - about how the various mythical monsters like banhsees, werewolves, vampires, voodoo zombies, yeti are actually alien species living on our planet as refugees or invaders, and there is a MIB-like group the Alliance who keeps them in check. Except their methods make the MIB look like saints as the Alliance isn't squeamish about sacrificing whole towns to keep things in the dark. And even benevolent aliens are hunted down and imprisoned to keep the status quo. One episode has them basically ruin a Star Trek style First Contact because they feel humanity is not ready yet.

    Yup, I remember I found the shrike scene quite disturbing as a child. Made me try to stay away from anything that had thorns for a while And soon after, my grandpa killed the fuck out of several baby mice in the garden, using a spade or a pitchfork. And then I went to school, and my colleague basically scared some mouse to death (it ran away from him and hit the bin in the corner of the classroom so hard it died). This somehow cured me from empathy for mice I guess.

    This show teaches kids that death is gruesome and horrible and that life is not fair. I think that is actually better than shows thay always give an easy narrative. Because they grow up being adults that support war and think the "bad guys" deserve suffering and death (typical disney). Death and violence are pointless and horrible, and nothing makes it okay or glorious or worth it. Our actions have consequences.

    I suppose the U rating is given to these cartoons because they are just depicting reality. All of this actually happens all the time, and if kids can see it outside their door or in their kitchen, it absolutely makes sense that it can be explained to them in animated form. It's not overly vile or cruel, it's just a fact of life, and I think that people react so strongly because they forget this. If you've ever been hunting or even just ribbed or gutted a carcass, you know that the reality of eating meat is blood and guts. Because all we ever see in the store are neatly cut filets, the "grim" reality of its origins often shock people.

    I tend to think of myself as a strong willed person who can watch a lot of things and not be bothered by it. I tend to brag how I love adult content in children's media. But seeing that whole thing happen with the pheasants was not something I was prepared to see. That fucked me up and I'm a 20 year old man

    "Dick" is an old term for detective, the dog calling Fox a "clever dick" is probably an inference to Fox being a detective

    I was traumatized by this series as a kid. I rented a VHS of it that had season 1 - 3 all in one. I thought it was gonna be a good movie about animals taking a journey together but... not really.
